What is the Shy Code?

Ever sitting on the bus and make eye contact with someone cute? You've just had a moment. You wish Cutie would come up and say something. And if it wasn't so damn awkward you'd go over to Cutie and introduce yourself. Maybe you’d exchange phone numbers or organise a date.

But people never do that. Instead, they just let the moment go by.

In a similar vein, are you one of those girls who never gets approached by guys? You might make eye contact with them. You might feel like you've positively invited them to come up and say hi. But instead, they just cower in the corner like shy school boys. And it's not as if you're ugly. In fact, you're probably quite good looking. Because the fact is, most guys lack the confidence to come up and say hi to a woman, especially a beautiful one.

How crazy!

Well now there's a way to overcome the craziness...

It's called "the Shy Code".

There was once an old wives' tale that if you shopped at the supermarket on a Thursday night and you were single, you should put some red waxed tipped bananas in your shopping basket to identify other single people.

To some extent, the Shy Code simply breathes life into that old wives’ tale.

The Shy Code consists of a series of "rules" you can follow in order to:

  1. in the case where you already know the person or have made eye contact with them, indicate your interest and gauge their response; or
  2. in the case where there’s no particular person in mind, simply generally indicate that you’re open to being approached, receiving a compliment or being asked on a date.

Importantly, the whole thing is completely free and anonymous. There are no profiles, no photos, no tagging... 2shytosayhi.com is not another Facebook or a dating site. So none of your school, college or work friends will ever know. Although of course, it’s more fun when you all follow the Shy Code together!

You will see the Shy Code consists of 10 rules and that one of the rules, the “Floating Rule” changes every week. We also have a designated Event of the Week. If you’d like to receive details of the Floating Rule and the Event of the Week by email, you can sign up and subscribe to our weekly email. It’s completely free and all you need is an email address.

In the nicest possible way, we couldn’t care less about your name, date of birth etc. So this isn’t information we request or collect. In fact, it’s important to the principles on which the Shy Code is based that you remain anonymous to us and everyone else.

You can also unsubscribe at any time with the click of a button.

Lots of people have started to attend our Event of the Week. The key thing to remember is that the Event of the Week is not a singles party. Nor is it a 2shytosayhi.com sponsored event where you will see promotional materials or be welcomed at the door by a 2shy representative.

Like we said earlier, anonymity is vital.

The Event of the Week then, is simply a designated event or location where you can go and be totally confident that in amongst the crowd, there are scores of single people like yourself. That is, people who follow the Shy Code and who are open to receiving a compliment or being asked on a date.

You just have to use the Shy Code to identify them or allow them to identify you. It’s dead easy.

So there’s no need anymore to go out to the same cruddy bars with all the same people who never come up and chat to you. We’ve all been there. And we all know how depressing it is. Instead, get together with some of your friends and head to the Event of the Week. There’s no downside!
